The Other F Word

Saturday, December 10th at 8:00pm

the-other-f-word-large

The Other F Word is a raucous, eye-opening, sad and unexpectedly wise look at veteran punk rockers as they adapt to the challenges of fatherhood. To be sure, watching foul- mouthed, colorfully inked musicians attempt to fit themselves into Ward Cleaver’s smoking jacket provides for some consistently hilarious situational comedy, but the film’s deeper delving into a whole generation of artists clumsily making amends for their own absentee parents could strike a resonant note with anyone (punk or not) who’s stumbled headfirst into family life.”

The Sweded Horror Film Fest (Encore Screening)

Friday, October 28th at 7:00pm

swededhorror2011
Since the first screening sold out, we’re offering up a second chance to see some homegrown horror. In Michel Gondry’s film, Be Kind Rewind, Jack Black and Mos Def invent the process of “sweding,” in which they take classic films and remake them into short films using a virtually nonexistent budget, amateur actors, and insane amounts of creativity. Well, that’s exactly what we asked regional filmmakers to do, this time with a spooktacular twist. Remake your favorite horror film. Be prepared for lots of fake blood and blood-curdling laughs…The Sweded Horror Film Fest

A Festivus for the Rest of Us!

Friday, December 23rd at 8:00pm

festivus
Here at The Shadowbox, we do things a little different. So, when the idea of a Christmas party came up we naturally thought of…A Festivus Party!Festivus is a holiday featured in “The Strike” episode of Seinfeld. The episode first aired on December 18, 1997. Since then many people have been inspired by the goodness of the Seinfeld holiday and they now celebrate Festivus as any other holiday.

According to the Seinfeld model, Festivus is celebrated each year on December 23rd.

Instead of a tree an unadorned aluminum pole is used, in contrast to normal holiday materialism. Those attending Festivus may also participate in the “Airing of Grievances” which is an opportunity to tell others how they have disappointed you in the past year and then the “Feats of Strength”.
